Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Missoula is a nonprofit organization that began in 1994 with the mission of providing independent, trained advocates for the best interests of children. These children in the judicial system are at substantial risk or have experienced abuse or neglect. CASA provides consistent, long-term advocacy until every child is in a safe, permanent home.
CASA staff recruit, train, and supervise community volunteers to be advocates who provide individualized attention to each child in need. These volunteers interview parents, teachers, foster families, counselors, and the child. With this information, they submit reports to the court advocating what is in the best interest of the child. A CASA’s goal is to find each child a safe and permanent home. Each year CASA of Missoula volunteers help hundreds of children in Missoula and Mineral counties.
