When you see the two-story, brick Franklin School building, you may feel as though you’ve stepped back in time. The elementary school, one of the oldest in Missoula, was built in 1916 and the surrounding neighborhood mirrors its quiet charm.
In Franklin Park, it’s not uncommon to see a kickball tournament at the baseball diamond or an outdoor birthday party. Mature, tree-lined streets host a mix of both older and newly constructed homes that span from Russell to the Historic Fort Missoula on South Reserve.
Established in 1877, the Fort protected the burgeoning settlement of Missoula. Today the Forest Service uses many of its restored buildings. It is a Missoula treasure.
Here’s the 4-1-1 (including maps) on the Franklin to the Fort as provided by the City of Missoula.
