This weekend give your mom the best Mother’s Day gift around – take her fishing!
“This is your official reminder that Sunday is Mother’s Day, and fishing is free all weekend! Pack up your rods and reels and enjoy Mother’s Day as a family out on the lake or knee-deep in a river,” said Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte.
For the first time in Montana, fishing will be free on Mother’s Day weekend, thanks to Senate Bill 61, which was signed by Gov. Greg Gianforte in February and introduced by Sen. Pat Flowers.
On May 8 and 9, people can fish in Montana without a fishing license.
“Getting families outdoors and on the water is a great way to pass on the fishing tradition,” said FWP director Hank Worsech.
Free fishing weekends, which in Montana include Mother’s Day and Father’s Day weekends now, are a great way for beginners to get out and try their hand at fishing.
