An electrical contractor is hiring an estimator to accurately factor all potential costs in an electrical job, including labor, materials, location, how long the job will last, and any special requirements that may be needed. Things such as overhead, insurance, taxes, and subcontractors will be used to determine the cost estimate. The estimator works closely with electrical supply houses, contractors, architects, and building officials. You will review project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work; prepare estimates by compiling takeoffs using blueprints, project manuals and specifications; bid projects by using and entering takeoffs into estimating software; provide enough detail to provide accurate budgets; review quotes for completeness with specifications; formulate proposals and final bidding of all types of projects; maintain files and documents; work with contract administrator and foreman; and prepare pricing for change orders and construction change directives. Qualifications include strong analytical ability, detail orientation with strong organizational skills, ability to read and understand blueprints, project manuals, and specifications, professional written and oral skills, ability to negotiate internal issues, priorities and deadlines, and knowledge of computer software. This requires a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and the ability to walk 3-4 miles a day, with moderate lifting. Technicians are assigned daily routes and are responsible for preparing their vehicles for each day’s route and performing minor maintenance and inspection on their vehicles. The counselors work for a visitor center, assisting with office tasks as time permits. The employer is looking for someone who is warm, friendly, genuine, energetic and personable, exemplifying high service standards. Duties include greeting visitors, responding to visitor inquiry requests and tracking visitors. This requires a working knowledge of highways, transportation systems, public and private attractions and recreation areas, events, weather conditions, and accommodations. The counselors also answer phones, input events into an online calendar, assist with office correspondence and development and maintenance of a digital image catalog in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, and input visitor registration into a data base. This is seasonal, part-time work from June to September 2. Hours will be weekdays from 4-7 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 pm. on Sundays.
