The Northern Rockies Region of the Forest Service has begun its hiring campaign for the year, beginning with permanent fire positions. Job announcements are open through December 1 for a committed, hardworking, highly-skilled workforce to suppress wildfires and work in fuels management on 11 National Forests located in Idaho, North Dakota and Montana. The fire and aviation management program requires talented people working safely as part of a team in a variety of specialized positions, including dispatch, engine crews, fuels technicians, hand crews, helitack, interagency hotshot crews, and prevention.
The vacancy announcements are at www.usajobs.gov. Those who wish to be considered for these positions in the fire-hire event must apply to the vacancy announcements by the cut-off date of 11:59 p.m., Eastern Standard Time on December 1. Many of these positions have a minimum qualification of a year of specialized experience and/or a four-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor’s degree with courses related to the occupation.

A full-time recreation specialist is needed to administer the operations and promotion of a large sports and special-events complex. Required is a bachelor’s degree in marketing or recreation sports facility management administration or a related field and two years of special-event recreation program experience OR four years of practical experience providing marketing for youth and adult sports, recreation, and fitness programs, including program management and employee supervision. Applicants must be able to obtain a Montana driver’s license, CPR certification, First Aid, and CPR and First Aid Instructor certification. Pay is $20.75 for job #10163012.
