JEKYLL & HYDE The Musical — October 31-November 2, November 5-9, 2014. This gothic musical, based on a Robert Louis Stevenson classic, is a tale about the battle between good and evil. Dr. Henry Jekyll unvittingly unleashes his own dark side, wreaking havoc in the streets of London, as the savage, maniacal Mr. Edward Hyde. Set to a powerful rock music score, this show contains violence and adult situations. The themes and intensity are not suitable for children. (Audition date: 8/31/14)
WINTER WONDERETTES — December 12-14, 17-21, 2014. The Wonderettes are back; facing a crazy new challenge— find Santa! This holiday celebration involves Missy, Suzy, Betty Jean and Cindy Lou trying to save the Christmas party at Harper’s Hardware store when Santa turns up missing. This entertaining musical, perfectly gift-wrapped for your holidays, is full of great music and loveable characters. A sequel to The Marvelous Wonderettes (2012-13 MCT season), it will put a smile on your face and a song in your heart—a fun and festive outing for the entire family! (Audition date: 10/5/14)
CLUE: THE MUSICAL — January 23-25, 28-February 1, 2015. The popular, international board game is now a fun-filled musical that brings to life Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum and the rest of the world’s best-known suspects. It invites the audience to help solve the mystery; who killed Mr. Boddy—in what room and with what weapon? The music may be new to you, but the wrench, candlestick, knife, and pipe will remind you of all the fun you’ve had sitting around your kitchen table trying to decide whodunit. You’ll want to see it more than once—there are 216 possible solutions! Suitable for ages 12 and older. (Audition date: 12/7/14)
THE RAINMAKER — March 20-22, 25-29, 2015. A classic of the American theatre, The Rainmaker is a romantic drama is set on a midwestern farm during a paralyzing drought. Lizzie Curry, a young woman whose hopes and dreams are as barren as the fields, falls for Starbuck, a smooth-talking traveler selling the promise of rain. Lizzie finds herself falling for him and must decide; is he a con man, or does he hold the key to everything she desires? This charming, non-musical play, is about love, desire and magic. It expresses these themes so resonantly that the play has been translated into forty languages since it premiered on Broadway in 1954. The Rainmaker contains an emotional depth that may not hold the interest of younger audience members. (Audition date: 1/25/15)
SHREK THE MUSICAL – May 1-3, 6-10 13-17, 2015. Get ready for some big fun as we bring to life the story of this oversized, misunderstood, green ogre—or is he a hero? Toss in a crazy mixture of fractured fairytale characters to spice it up, such as an overly-chatty donkey and a pretty princess with panache. Mixed with pop-culture references, adolescent humor, catchy tunes, and a traditional happy ending, you’ll delight in this funny, musical feast for the whole family! Like the animated film, there are fun songs, a good moral, and a happy ending. If you think the movie is okay for your kids, this will be too. But if you’re not ready to introduce them to PG-rated wisecracks—you may want to plan for child care. (Audition date: 2/22/15)
