The 2013 football season is the 14th anniversary of the “Can the Bobcats” food drive competition. Each year, food banks in Missoula and Bozeman battle it out in conjunction with the annual “Brawl of the Wild” Griz/Cat football game and collect thousands of pounds of food for hungry families, just in time for the holidays. Last year alone the food rive collected a combined total of 144,925 pounds of food for our local communities!
Grizzly Athletics is asking Griz Nation to help us help the community. In addition to drop-off locations around Missoula, Griz fans have the opportunity to make an impact at the Griz basketball game this Friday, November 22. The Griz host San Francisco and fans can bring six (6) items of canned food and receive one general admission ticket for free! In order to receive the free general admission ticket, fans must enter through the student entrance where they can drop the canned items and be admitted to the game. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the game starts at 7:00 p.m. All fans wishing to purchase a ticket must use the main entrances and purchase at the Adams Center Box Office. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food items even if they do not need a ticket to the game.
Here are some great things to keep in mind when donating food. Since this competition is based on pounds of food, the heavier the better. Items like canned goods, dried beans, rice, flour, peanut butter, etc. pack the biggest punch!
Can’t make the game? Here is a complete list of drop off locations:
The MSO Hub, Murdochs, Albertsons, The Village Healthcare, Karl Tyler Chevrolet & Cadillac, Missoula Federal Credit Union, Noons, Aarons Furniture, Wendys, Title Boxing Club, Missoula Food Bank, Hillside & Riverside Healthcare, Town Square Media, The Ranch & Rosauers.
