The 12th Annual Garden City River Rod Run, slated for this weekend, June 29 & 30, 2012, will feature nearly 200 classic and hot rod cars and close to 3,000 spectators in Downtown Missoula for this two-day event.
We are very excited to have the Number 99 Nascar featured on Friday night in the park. Since our theme this year is “Race Cars,” this is a great way to showcase one of the best race cars in the nation.
The Friday Night Cruisin’ Parade on Higgins Avenue from 9 to 10 p.m. highlights the weekend’s festivities. On Friday evening, also enjoy a show & shine in Caras Park from 5 to 9 p.m. with live music by local band Zoo City.
Admission to the Garden City River Rod Run is free to spectators. Participants can register cars in the show and parade for $35. Subsequent car registrations are $10. A show & shine will take place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A variety of food and beverages will be available for purchase from a wide range of vendors, as well as a beer garden serving a variety of spirits. The weekend’s award presentation will be on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Caras Park, which includes 15 special interest awards and the Best of Show trophy.
“This is one of the most exciting events we have Downtown,” said Linda McCarthy, executive director of the MDA. “Folks come from all over to see these beautiful hobby cars and the Downtown community benefits from all the traffic. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
