One of Broadway’s recent smash hits is now available to theatres around the region and the Missoula Children’s Theatre is proud to announce the next Community Series AUDITION which is Waitress: The Musical on Sunday, November 17th. Those wishing to audition can do so anytime between 1:00-4:00PM. Callbacks for certain roles will begin at approximately 4:30PM.
Waitress: The Musical is about Jenna, a waitress whose small-town existence and difficult marriage are a recipe for unhappiness. Her search for escape to a better life leads her to a relationship with little future as it threatens her reputation. Still, Jenna manages to find some sweetness in life throughout this bittersweet journey. The superb music score by Grammy-awardwinner Sara Bareilles blends both heartache (“She Used to Be Mine”) and hope (“What Baking Can Do”).
Joseph Martinez, MCT’s Artistic Director, and Christine Kowalchik, owner of Show Tyme Academy are co-directing the production and Arielle Nachtigal will be the music director. Guitar players are encouraged to audition and MCT will provide a guitar at callbacks, if needed. There are 8 named roles and 8 ensemble roles to be cast with people ages 18 and older. The performance dates are January 16-26, 2025, with a unique rehearsal schedule of Thursdays-Mondays, so availability on
weekends is critical.
Use the Main Street entrance and proceed to the 3rd floor to complete an audition form. More specific information about the roles and music samples will be available on the MCT website no later than Friday, October 25th. No previous experience is required to audition; the process will include singing, reading from the script and a dance/movement portion. The production is rated PG-13 Parental Guidance Recommended.
