The Missoula Community Theatre’s AUDITION for The Play That Goes Wrong is Sunday, January 7th, 2024.
This non-musical SLAPSTICK COMEDY is a hilarious, but physically demanding show, with the script calling for actors to do a lot of falling, climbing, crawling, lifting, jumping, stage combat, etc… There are 8 named roles and 4-6 “backstage” roles who will be fully involved in the hijinks. Casting is open to ages 18 and older for people of all genders and takes place from 1-4PM at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts with call-backs to immediately follow. Please use the Main street entrance and proceed to the 3rd floor to complete the audition form. Public performances are scheduled for March 7-17, 2024.
Sarah Walker Thornton, a long-time member of the Actors’ Equity Association, is Directing the production. She holds an MFA from the Professional Actor Training Program at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival/ University of Alabama. Sarah was also a founder and manager of the NYC-based Bama Theater Company, an Equity Shakespeare company, while continuing her career as a professional actor-director-teacher-writer with experience in stage combat.
The Play That Goes Wrong (rated PG) is a ‘play within a play’ involving a British acting troupe preparing for opening night of The Murder at Haversham Manor, and…well…everything goes wrong. People with a gift for comedic timing and physical humor are strongly encouraged to audition for a role in the ensemble cast.
