Missoula MT is home to the Vital Ground Foundation, an organization dedicated to protecting Grizzly Bear Habitat and reducing conflicts between humans and Grizzly Bears.
Their approach is similar to other conservation groups but at first look, it seems like an impossible task. Their goal is to preserve corridors for Grizzly Bear migration between various sections of the North Western US where Grizzly Bears still roam.
Their efforts to protect habitat also help other species as well. Also protected are untold numbers of other native plants and animals.
The foundation has successfully set aside land from the Greater Yellowstone area all the way to Alaska’s Bristol Bay.
From the Vital Ground Foundation website:
Our mission is to protect and restore North America’s grizzly bear populations for future generations by conserving wildlife habitat and by supporting programs that reduce conflicts between bears and humans.
