The Downtown Missoula Partnership is celebrating Independence Day in the heart of Missoula with a special Out to Lunch in Caras Park on Wednesday, July 4 from 11am-2pm.
Organized by the Missoula Downtown Association and sponsored by Liberty Electric, the Fourth of July Out to Lunch will feature the Presentation of the Colors at 11 am by the VFW Post 209 “Old Beck”, and Erin Agner, vocalist for The Hasslers, will sing the National Anthem.
Held every Wednesday in June, July and August, the Out to Lunch Summer Series is an admission-free, outdoor food and music festival that draws thousands of attendees for live entertainment, children’s activities, and food and beverages from 20 food trucks and vendors.
The Independence Day version of Out to Lunch will showcase live blues and folk music by Mary Place & Blue Moon until 2 pm, and special adult beverages, such as Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s, will be available for purchase onsite. Access to Caras Park will be easy for everyone, as parking downtown is FREE on the 4th of July. However, the usual trolley services will be suspended for the holiday.
All children are invited and encouraged to decorate their wagons, bicycles and strollers in red, white and blue and join in on the parade at Noon around the Caras Park stage. Prizes for the top three decorated parade participants will be awarded onstage. Other fun children’s activities include an old fashioned fishing game, three-legged races, and a watermelon-eating contest.
“Since the Fourth of July is on a Wednesday this year, we will be celebrating the holiday in the heart of Downtown Missoula,” said Linda McCarthy, Executive Director of the Downtown Missoula Partnership. “It’s exciting for us to welcome family and friends to Out to Lunch in Caras Park, and our committee has assembled a special program for Independence Day.”
