MCT Presents Little Red and the Hoods

MCT Celebrates Arts in Education Week With a Theatre for Young Audiences Production

This delightful tale of Little Red Riding Hood is told with modern lessons for today’s children.  As the story goes, of course, Little Red is taking cookies to her grandmother when she encounters Harry Wolf.  Harry works for the notorious gang leader, Ma Sugar Lump, and wants to steal the recipe to the cookies.  The pack of meanies can then bake more cookies, sell them to others and become rich!  Fortunately, their plot fails.

MCTThis non-musical play teaches its young audiences about not judging people by their looks, how to protect themselves from strangers and the importance of reading.  With plenty of audience participation, it is both fun and educational at the same time.  This play was written by Karen Boettcher-Tate and produced by special arrangement with PIONEER DRAMA SERVICE, INC., Englewood, CO.  Andy Meyers will direct the cast of adult actors in the following roles:

Stephanie…………………………………………………….. Shelby Art

Zelda……………………………………………………………..Taylor Ann Krahn

Humphrey……………………………………………………….Kevin Harrington

Maggie……………………………………………………………Megan Wiltshire

Mrs. Weazelbud……………………………………………….Kayla Cuthbertson

MCT Little Red and the Hoods FeaturedWhat is Arts in Education week?  In July of 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution designating the second week of September as “Arts in Education Week.” Congress designated it to promote and showcase the immense role arts education has in producing engaged, successful, and college and career-ready students. MCT is proud to join arts organizations across America to celebrate this special week!  All of the Missoula County Public Schools’ 2nd grade students will get to attend a performance, thanks to the show’s sponsors, which are MCPS and SPARK! Arts Ignite Learning.

Public performances are Thursday and Friday, September 17 & 18 at 1pm, and Saturday, September 19 at 10am.  In addition, a special adapted performance for those people living on the autism spectrum will be presented on Thursday, September 17th at 7pm.  Tickets are available at www.MCTinc.org, by phone at 406-728-7529 or at the MCT Box Office at 200 North Adams Street, M-F from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.  *Ask about special school group pricing.  Little Red and the Hoods is sponsored by Missoula County Public Schools and SPARK!
