Join the Brain Injury Alliance of Montana for our 8th annual Helmet Giveaway Event at the Missoula Osprey baseball game on Saturday, July 11, 2015 starting at 6:00 p.m. Representatives from the Brain Injury Alliance of Montana and volunteers from Community Medical Center and the Montana Trial Lawyers Association will be on hand to give away true multi-sport helmets to children and youth from the Missoula area who would like to have one.
This free event will take place at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field in Missoula as soon as the gates open at 6:00 p.m., ahead of the game start time of 7:05 p.m. Helmet sizes will range from toddler to large and will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Over the summer, the BIAMT will hold three Helmet Giveaway events around the state with our 2nd annual Helmet Giveaway event with the Billings’ Mustangs at Dehler Park coming up on July 21, 2015. This year the community of Helena hosted their first helmet giveaway event on June 22, 2015. Last year the BIAMT gave away more than 200 helmets to Montana children. In 2015, we hope to give away more than 300 helmets to help prevent brain injury in our youth.
Awareness, prevention, advocacy and support are some of the principals the Brain Injury Alliance of Montana uses to guide and provide the motivation behind our annual Helmet Giveaway events. The BIAMT is the only nonprofit organization in the state dedicated solely to the purpose of assisting persons with brain injury and their families. BIAMT is dedicated to providing education, support, advocacy, resources and referrals for individuals with brain injuries and their families but does not provide medical diagnosis or advice.
Montana is second in the nation for the per capita number of traumatic brain injury-related deaths. There are an estimated 44,000 individuals living in Montana who have sustained a traumatic brain injury and of those an estimated 19,000 need lifelong help of daily living due to their injury.
