Do you have a desire to make a big impact in your community? YWCA Missoula is looking for passionate people to join our team. Right now, our Pathways Domestic and Sexual Violence program and youth leadership program, GUTS! (Girls Using Their Strengths), are in need of volunteers to help serve families in need, right here in Missoula.
When you volunteer at YWCA Missoula, your energy, and passion never goes to waste. Our organization depends on our volunteers to help us carry out the YWCA mission. In return, we will build leadership from within and promote leadership skills on all levels of the organization. The dedication of our volunteers is what allows the YWCA to serve the women and children who need our help, 24 hours a day.
Become an Advocate!
Want to answer our 24-hour crisis line or work at the shelter? Pathways volunteers join our team of staff advocates in providing crisis intervention and emotional support to women, children and men survivors of domestic and sexual violence. We will host orientations on Tuesday, Feb. 10; Thursday, Feb. 12; and Tuesday, Feb. 17 for volunteers interested in advocating for women and children in crisis. Prospective volunteers need only attend one of the orientations, followed by a professional-caliber training which begins on Feb. 21. Men are also encouraged to become advocates. If you are interested in becoming an Advocate, email Rebecca at rpettit@ywcaofmissoula.org.
GUTS!
Volunteers in the GUTS! girls leadership program work to provide a safe and supportive environment for young women ages 9 to 18 to explore their own personal values and discover their strengths. Upon completion of a 6-hour training, GUTS! volunteers lead outdoor summer adventures, facilitate action groups throughout the school year, and help with community adventures all year long. Deadline to apply for this position is Thursday, Feb. 5. For more information, contact Roe at (406) 543-6691 or rerin@ywcaofmissoula.org.
