The Missoula Community Theatre is holding an open audition for The Rainmaker on Sunday, January 25th at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts from 12:30-4:00 p.m. Please use the Main Street entrance. This non-musical has roles for seven men and one woman, ages 20 and older. There are no roles for children.
Serving as guest director for the production is Gregory Johnson, the artistic director of the Montana Repertory Theatre at the University of Montana. Johnson’s Broadway credits include Biloxi Blues and Crimes of the Heart. National tours include the Broadway productions of Steel Magnolias and Biloxi Blues.
The Rainmaker is a romantic drama set on a Midwestern farm experiencing a paralyzing drought during the Depression. The popular story is considered a classic of the American theatre. It has been translated into forty languages since it premiered on Broadway in 1954, and in 1956 it was made into a film starring Burt Lancaster and Katharine Hepburn.
