Amid national attention surrounding the handling of special victims’ cases and a controversial relationship between the U.S. Department of Justice and Missoula County, two Democratic candidates have stepped forward to run for the highly important elected office of Missoula County Attorney. Fred Van Valkenburg, who has served in this office since 1998, will be retiring this year.
Join City Club Missoula as Josh Van de Wetering and Kirsten Pabst take part in a candidate forum featuring two local journalists. KECI-TV reporter Emily Adamson and KPAX-TV news director Mike Powers will pose questions and moderate questions from the audience.
At this City Club forum, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the role and requirements of Missoula’s County Attorney.
Josh Van de Wetering is a Missoula attorney currently practicing in criminal defense and civil litigation. His experience includes a 10-year role as Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, specializing in narcotics trafficking and appeals cases across Western Montana.
Kirsten Pabst is a Missoula attorney currently practicing in criminal defense. Pabst’s experience includes an 18-year role at Missoula County, six years of which as Chief Deputy County Attorney.
City Club Missoula forums are open to everyone; you do not need to be a member to attend, however, reservations are required.
