The 22nd annual celebration of active, sustainable, healthy transportation, Bike Walk Bus Week, launches on Sunday and runs through Saturday, Sept. 8-14.
The week is jammed with activities and celebrations and seven days of fun. Highlights include historical walking tours, free Mountain Line bus fare, Sunday Streets Missoula on Sunday, group bike rides, discounts and giveaways at dozens of local businesses, walk-to-school events at elementary and middle schools, demonstrations of how to put bikes on buses and more. Bike Walk Bus Week has traditionally been held in April. We’ve moved it to September because of the likelihood of better weather, increased staff availability (bike ambassadors, for instance), synchronicity with the fall Sunday Streets event and the chance to develop student commuting habits at the start of the school year.
