This past week marked the 14th Annual Best in the West Freestyle Kayak Competition. The event went off without a hitch. Freestyle kayaking, surfing, flash mob, food, vendors, fundraiser, live music, and bull riding all went down last Thursday. A HUGE thanks to everyone who came down to the park to support Downtown Tonight and BIW Competition.
BIW marks the beginning of the summer for me and the guides here at Zoo Town Surfers. My auto insurance agent tells me that when I call her, they know it’s the beginning of summer. Whether it’s Best in the West, or some other type of signal, I think we all have some type of pattern or tradition that marks the beginning of summer for us here in Western Montana.
Cruising the river trail, surfing glassy waves, eating Big Dipper Ice Cream, dogs sun bathing, heading to sandy beaches, late BBQ’s, out to lunch/dinner, and late nights on the gorge all come to mind when I start to think about summer.
There are so many things to do right here in our backyard and the town is buzzing with energy. What marks the beginning of summer for you?
See you on the river!
