Have you resolved to be more active this year? Are you looking for fun, affordable fitness options? Look no further than Parks and Recreation’s new Sports and Wellness Center at 1515 Fairview, inside the City Life Community Center. The public is invited to try one youth or adult drop-in program at no charge through January 31.
The Sports and Wellness Center offers youth sports and open gym, adult sports and open gym, adult fitness classes like yoga, Zumba and strength and conditioning, pre-school programs, pickleball and youth indoor tennis. Throughout the month of January, open gyms, open pickleball, pre-school playtime and adult fitness classes are free for your first visit. Details and schedules are available at www.missoulaparks.org or by calling 721-PARK.
Recreation Specialist Ryan Yearous says the new programs are a response to numerous citizen requests. “For the last several years, residents have been asking for more youth winter sports, affordable adult fitness, and expanded adult sport leagues,” Yearous said. “When the opportunity arose to offer programs at City Life, we thought it was a great way to respond to the demand for more active indoor recreation in Missoula. While Currents Aquatics Center has been a great option for families in the winter, we’re pleased to expand our menu of affordable fitness options for the whole family.
Parks and Recreation has contracted with City Life to manage the center’s gym as an independent operation. Program fees and revenue from the gym go directly to Parks and Recreation and are not affiliated with City Life or its mission. No membership is required to participate in Sports and Wellness Center programs. Share The Fun Youth Recreation Grants are available for low-income families.
