As part of its continuing network investment to support growing demand for advanced mobile devices and applications, AT&T* announced the activation of three new mobile Internet cell sites in Montana that will enhance coverage for area residents and businesses. With mobile Internet speeds, AT&T customers can surf the Web, download files faster, and enjoy the very latest interactive mobile applications.
The new cell sites are one part of AT&T’s ongoing efforts to drive investment and innovation to deliver the nation’s best, most advanced mobile broadband experience for customers. With the nation’s fastest mobile Internet network, AT&T provides accelerated mobile data speeds and simultaneous voice and data capabilities.
“Investments in wireless infrastructure will drive economic growth and stimulate jobs,” said Jason Olson, Director of External Affairs-Montana. “Our ongoing investments in western Montana are designed to give businesses, residents and visitors increased coverage and reliability.”
The new sites will serve the following areas:
- Located on Interstate 90 roughly 20 miles northwest of Missoula in the community of Huson, the new site will improve coverage and performance along I-90 and across the community of Huson. It also provides coverage along I-90 between Frenchtown and Alberton.
- Located near Noxon Reservoir on Highway 200, approximately 66 miles southwest of Kalispell, the new site will improve coverage and performance to this remote area of northwestern Montana.
- Located 25 miles southeast of Polson on Highway 83 near the unincorporated community of Condon, the new site will improve coverage and performance across the community of Condon as well along Highway 83 between Seeley Lake and Swan Lake.
AT&T invested nearly 70 million in its Montana wireless and wireline networks from 2009 through 2011 with a focus on improving the company’s mobile Internet coverage and overall performance of its networks.
AT&T’s mobile Internet network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies that includes GSM and UMTS, the most widely used wireless network platforms in the world.
