Where Higgins Avenue veers west and becomes 39th Street, you’ll find a neighborhood perched above the Missoula valley. The area known as Farviews is aptly named for its fantastic vantage point. Streets curve around the rolling terrain—the perfect location for the Highlands Golf Course.
Just east of the Farviews neighborhood, a narrow and lush canyon cuts along the south side of Mount Sentinel—this is known as Pattee Canyon. Named for settler David Pattee, the canyon is one of the most popular recreation areas in town. Standing in one of the homes tucked under thick pine trees near a babbling creek, you would never know you are within 10 minutes of the UM campus.
