Out of the Box Productions presented by MCT, Inc. announces a return engagement of The Woman in Black, which debuted in October of 2013. This dark thriller is based on Susan Hill’s novel of the same name, and combines the power and intensity of live theatre with the dark style of film noir. Performances will be held nightly at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 9th through Sunday, October 12th at the First United Methodist Church in Missoula.
“The Woman in Black is not a horror story, but rather more of a suspenseful tale that will give you goose bumps,” says Andy Meyers, the show’s director. This encore performance features the same cast who performed at the ZACC and also at The Keep restaurant in 2013. “Arthur Kipps” (played by Don Fuhrmann) is a junior solicitor, summoned to attend the funeral of Mrs. Alice Drablow, the sole inhabitant of Eel Marsh House. Arthur is unaware of the tragic secrets which lie hidden behind the shuttered windows. The title character of “The Woman in Black” is played by Megan Wiltshire, whom the audience can thank for those goose bumps, as she silently drifts in and out of sight. Kipps recounts his experience years later to an unnamed actor (played by Matt Loehrke) in a desperate attempt to exorcise the ghosts of the past.
Audiences may recall the 2012 film, starring Daniel Radcliffe. The bells and whistles of the studio film are absent, of course, but the spooky factor is ever present in the stage production. The show is sponsored by the Five on Black Brazilian Grill in downtown Missoula. Patrons may present their show ticket at the restaurant in advance of, or after, the show for $5.00 off their meal.
