We definitely are in the full swing of wedding season. I am looking forward to three very different and very special weddings, so the question begs: Do I find one signature gift or choose a different gift for each celebration?
Looking back on my wedding (well over a decade ago), some of the best gifts I received were the heartfelt ones: Handmade pottery, wrought iron, and a very special blanket from my hometown in upstate New York. All were local to the guests’ regions, and I use each one regularly.
So, on your quest to find the perfect nuptual token, here is a handy local shopping guide and suggestions for some of my favorite local stores and artists.
- For the Entertainers: A super cool and one-of-a-kind cheese plate made from a recycled wine bottle from The Zootown Arts Community Center.
- For the Foodies: A basket full of Montana goodness from Farm to Family.
- For the House-Poor First-Time Homebuyers: A much-welcome gift certificate to our favorite upcyclers: Home Resource!
- For the Still-Adventurous Road Trippers: A copy of the entertaining and informative Montana Curiosities by local character Ednor Therriault. Check out the excerpt, then pick it up locally at the Book Exchange or Fact and Fiction.
- For the Sunday Morning Coffee Lovers: Handmade mugs from The Clay Studio of Missoula make a few pounds of locally-roasted coffee from Black Coffee Roasting Co. taste even more delicious! You can find it at the roastery or the Good Food Store.
- For the Gardeners: A gift certificate or gear from The Green Light Garden Department will keep things blooming long after the wedding’s over.
